1. What is the process for Special Orders?

The Special Order program is a substitution program for those who cannot access our general stock because of their dietary restrictions.

The intake process is two steps:

1. Email foodbank@ams.queensu.ca for a form that will ask you about details surrounding your dietary restriction.

2. If the dietary restriction is something the AMS Food Bank can reasonably accommodate, you will receive a separate form to place your Special Orders. Please see the link below for more information on our policies.

To join this program or if you have any further questions, please email foodbank@ams.queensu.ca.

2. Do you offer baby items?

Unfortunately, we are unable to purchase baby items at this time. However, we do receive baby items on a donation basis, and we will distribute them when we do receive them. Please email foodbank@ams.queensu.ca if you are interested in receiving emails if a baby item donation has been dropped off.

3. How can I donate to the AMS Food Bank?

For donations, please follow the instructions using the link below. Both physical donations and electronic transfers are accepted.

Additionally, there is a blue barrel located out in the atrium of the JDUC where physical donations can be dropped off outside of the Food Bank operating hours

5. How can I volunteer or work at the AMS Food Bank/PEACH Market?

The AMS Food Bank heavily relies on volunteers. Volunteering duties include opening and closing the Food Bank, answering patrons’ questions, providing information on additional food support services and restocking shelves with new inventory. Volunteers require a time commitment of 1-3 hours per week.

There are also three paid manager and two paid supervisor positions annually, which support the day-to-day functions of the AMS Food Bank, as well as logistics and outreach duties.

We are currently at capacity and are not hiring.

To stay up to date on when volunteer and manager hiring opens, please visit myAMS.org/APPLY and follow our social media where we will promote new opportunities.
